Piton — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 July 2026
Piton ("we", "us", the "app") is a focus and app-blocking tool that helps you
limit distracting apps and websites. This policy explains what data the app
collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Piton you agree
to this policy.
1. Information we collect
-
Account information. When you sign in with Google we receive
your name, email address, profile photo, and a Google account identifier
(via Firebase Authentication). We use this to create your account and sync
your unlock credits.
-
Focus and blocking settings. The apps and websites you choose
to block, your focus sessions, schedules, and limits. These are stored on your
device; session history is kept locally on your device.
-
Device usage for enforcement. To enforce blocking, the app uses
Android's Usage Access to detect which app is in the foreground, and an
Accessibility Service to read the web address shown in your browser's address
bar. This information is processed on your device in real time to decide
whether to block; it is not stored by us and not transmitted off
your device.
-
Purchases and credits. When you buy unlock credits, Google Play
processes the payment. We store a record of granted credits and a purchase
identifier (verified server-side) in Firebase to prevent duplicate or
fraudulent grants. We do not receive or store your card or bank details.
-
Advertising. The app shows ads via Google AdMob, which may collect
device and advertising identifiers to serve and measure ads.
-
Diagnostics and analytics. We use Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase
Analytics to collect crash reports and aggregate, non-identifying usage events
to improve reliability.
-
Referrals. If you use a referral code, we store which account
referred you to grant the referral bonus.
2. Permissions and why we use them
- Accessibility Service — reads the current web address in supported
browsers to block websites you have chosen. Used only for blocking; the content
is evaluated on-device and never uploaded.
- Usage Access — detects the foreground app to enforce app blocks and limits.
- Display over other apps — brings the lock screen forward when a blocked app is opened.
- Notifications — shows the active focus-session notification and reminders.
- Ignore battery optimizations — keeps the blocking service running reliably.
- Run at startup / exact alarms — resumes scheduled blocks after a reboot and starts scheduled sessions on time.
3. How we use your information
- To provide app and website blocking, schedules, and limits.
- To manage your account, unlock credits, purchases, and referral bonuses.
- To show and measure ads, and to keep the app stable via crash reporting.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service
providers that operate the app: Google Firebase (authentication, database,
analytics, crash reporting), Google AdMob (advertising), and Google Play
Billing (purchases). Their handling of data is governed by Google's Privacy
Policy.
5. Data retention and deletion
On-device settings and session history remain until you clear the app's data or
uninstall. Account and credit records stored in Firebase are kept while your
account exists. To request deletion of your account and associated cloud data,
contact us at the email below and we will delete it within 30 days.
6. Children
Piton is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your
country), and we do not knowingly collect their data.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected by updating the
"Last updated" date above.
